MINUTES
The January minutes were approved with no changes.

REGISTRATION for 2009-2010
  • Must be sent to the address in the email, a PO Box--it cannot be sent directly to Carrie or given to anyone at preschool
  • The due date for the postmark is Feb 28, but you can send it in sooner if you know your preferences
  • CORRECTION: You DO NOT need to include a self-addressed stamped envelope. If you wish a confirmation that your application was received, you can include a self-addressed stamped postcard
  • All parents are invited to visit 2s classes at any location
  • As LPJW parents, we have priority here at Lincoln Park; we're equal with all parents at Alki and Admiral, which have no 1 year class
  • Sara agreed to contact the existing 2s teacher to ask her to visit our class, though it looks like the 2s and the 4s teachers might be switching, so Sara will ask Dori, the current 4s teacher to visit
PARENT EDUCATIONS
Parent education Topic presented, Jeopardy Challenge Game, to brainstorm ideas about how to handle various difficult situations

TEACHER’S REPORT
  • The curriculum was sent; let Sara know if you have changes. As a result of the fundraising discussion, Sara was going to make some revisions and post them to the blog
  • We need to come up with a class project for the auction. We know for one project we'll be using tumbled glass to make a mosaic. Suggestions for the project include coasters, picture frames, a large framed mirror, a chip and dip bowl set, or trivets. Sara agreed to verify that the glass could handle hot things if we chose to make trivets.
  • If we do a second project, the parents will need to take the lead
  • One week this month we'll be using the art table to complete projects we can use for the original works fundraiser (which requires special paper)
  • There are some new sanitizing procedures but most will not affect our class
PARENT COORDINATOR REPORT
  • Julie created a new station/discussion schedule and will send via email and post to the blog
  • There is no preschool on Feb 18 for midwinter break
  • Expect visitors to our class over the next few weeks as prospective parents for next year's JW class check us out
  • Julie cannot be here every week to greet the visitors, so asked us to keep an eye out and be welcoming
TEACHER EVALUATIONS
Tami requested the parents fill out the evaluations for Sara and return to her in hard or soft copy

BOARD MEETING
  • Tami reported that in order to try to reduce the smell in the bathrooms, LP co-op will have our regular cleaner clean the bathrooms. The board will re-evaluate after a month to see if it has helped
  • It is likely that we will have an extra week of preschool because of all of the snow days. The following week to that will be a cleanup session. Sara is also going to organize a spring cleaning in March or April
  • There are two scholarships available for parents, the Mary E. Philips scholarship and an in-house scholarship. The application is the same and the deadline is Feb 25th. Talk to Connie if you'd like to apply

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES

PAC
  • Natalie communicated via Tami that the PAC committee met last week to discuss the Marionettes Puppets Please fundraiser, which will take place on March 28th at 9:30 and 10:30. Tickets are $5 in advance from Natalie or $7 at the door. The program is geared for young children
  • Nathalie reminded everyone not to phone Carrie Ferrulli with questions about your child's registration for next year
Fundraising
  • Kate and Jen explained the original artworks fundraiser where we can use our children's art on tote bags, mouse pads, notecards, Tshirts, etc. An email with details was also sent earlier in the week
  • Kate and Jen are still looking for a venue for the proposed consignment sale. Julie agreed to ask at Fauntleroy Church
  • A final date has not been determined for the auction; the goal for the year is $8400 and so far we've raised $2100
  • If you know of a local business who might be willing to donate, let Kate and Jen know
