Parent education Topic presented

Survey
Connie talked about the OPEP Parent Education Statewide Survey that she distributed for us to complete during the meeting. It is completely anonymous and confidential. Connie will follow-up with those who missed the meeting so they can complete a survey and turn in by January 14th.

Parent Education Classes
Connie passed out the 3rd quarter Parent Education Classes Schedule. She reminded us that we need to sign-up for one class a quarter. We can also take any other type of parenting class or read a parenting book. If you want to sign-up for one of the Coop’s Parent Education classes, please email the instructor.

Pre-registration for Coop next year
Connie passed out the pre-registration information for Preschool Coop in order for us to view the 2’s classes. Although we can’t register until the 1st week of February, we can call the Parent Coordinator of any of the 2’s classes to set up a visit. She reminded us that when we visit other classes that we visit without our child. There is also a $50 non-refundable registration fee for when we do register.

Julie Zellner reminded us that we may have visitors to our Just Walkers classroom. If they look lost, please direct them to Julie or Sara. Please make them feel welcome.

Natalie, our PAC representative, also reminded us that we are not to contact Carrie Ferruli with questions about our registration.

Parent Topic
Connie passed out the handouts, I’m Melting, Discipline Techniques for Toddlers, and Operation Cooperation. We then played a game brainstorming ideas on how to handle melt-down situations with our toddlers.

TEACHER’S REPORT

It was approved that we swap out the make-up snow day for the in-service day that Teacher Sara is required to take. We would normally pay her for the in-service day, but since we missed a day of school it is even.

Sara emailed out the curriculum. She also said that she will be uncovering the big slide, so it is important to always have an adult in the room.

There will be some fun art projects this month with finger-painting with condensed milk, paint with cars, later in spring they will be painting feet and stepping on paper.

There will be a fire drill on January 7th. Sara will check with all parents during the snack time and make sure they know where the fire exits are.

Natalie said that she will have more details by the next parent meeting about the Puppet Show fundraiser on March 28th at the Jerry Brockey Auditorium. This fundraiser benefits the Mary E. Phillips Scholarship Fund.
